Our Story

Creator
My name is Hayley, and I am the creator of the DOBI Reading Program. I am currently completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Simon Fraser University, with a double minor in Educational Psychology and Learning and Developmental Disabilities. I am a certified Orton-Gillingham (OG) practitioner and have personally completed both the Barton Reading & Spelling Program and the Davis Dyslexia Correction Program as a student. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with kids, dogs, snowboarding, and eating sushi.
I was diagnosed with a learning disability traditionally known as dyslexia.
I developed the DOBI Reading Program from my personal experience of growing up with dyslexia. Despite knowing I was capable, I often struggled to feel or demonstrate it in the traditional school system. This program was born from my passion for helping students with diverse learning styles find success in an environment where reading ability is foundational and often tied to academic achievement.
Above all, my goal is to help students embrace their unique learning styles and develop strategies that build confidence and allow their abilities to shine. At DOBI, we focus on empowering students to navigate their challenges, celebrate their strengths, and achieve their potential.

Vision
To create a transformative reading intervention program that empowers every student to become a confident, independent, and life-long reader with literacy skills that not only meet but exceed grade-level expectations, preparing them for success in school, career, and life.
Our vision is to provide individualized, research-based support that recognizes and celebrates the diversity of learning styles. Through a multi-sensory, self-paced approach, students gain access to a rich toolkit of strategies designed to strengthen their literacy skills in ways that are meaningful, engaging, and tailored to their unique needs.
We aim to inspire measurable and lasting progress by fostering sustainable success that goes beyond the classroom. Our students achieve academic growth, personal resilience, and an enduring love for learning.
Most importantly, our program cultivates a strong sense of self-confidence, equipping students to embrace challenges, celebrate their achievements, and thrive in all areas of their lives.
Our ambition is to reshape the way reading is taught, creating a world where every child, regardless of their learning differences, is given the opportunity to unlock their full potential and contribute to their community with pride and purpose.
"At DOBI, our mission is to help as many students reach their reading potential as possible."
